My Kickstarters

Since discovering Kickstarter, I have pledged into a few. Lots have delivered and some have actually been painted.

This page will list those projects I was mad enough to go in for and their current status along with a five star rating system.

Steampunk Infantry by Meridian Miniatures / Andrew May
meridian_kickstarter
Funding Ended: July 4th 2013
Estimated delivery: September 2013
Performance: 148 backers pledged £10,661 of £6,000 goal
Status: Delivered / Painted
Verdict: A great set of miniatures. I discovered this Kickstarter one afternoon with literally 42 minutes left to go. I liked, I pledged. I opted for fours sets of infantry along with four pairs of specialists/officers. These have been painted in classic British infantry red and blue with some added steampunk gold, images of which can be found elsewhere in these pages.

Rivet Wars by Ted Terranova and CoolMiniOrNot
Rivet_Wars_Box

Performance: 2,464 backers pledged $582,316 of $25,000 goal
Status: Phase 1 Delivered / Battle Of Brighton delivered November 2014
Verdict: I liked this project from the start. Being a more cartoony subject matter, I thought I may get the kids interested in it.
I have several games so far and is the best complete game I have Kickstarted yet, great fun with game play that goes back and forth.

Battle Dog and Püg by Curtis Fell, Ramshackle Games
ks-dog1
Funding Ended: June 5th 2013
Estimated delivery: August 2014
Status: Delivered in August 2014, right on schedule!
Performance: 92 backers pledged £4,098 of £500 goal
Verdict: A nice small chunky tank with plenty of weapon options. My plan is to use lots of magnets so these can be outfitted in several ways. They should work for general sci-fi, Dust, AT-43, Secrets of the Third Reich and anything in No Limits.

Victorian Steampunk Dwarves by Olleys Armies

Estimated delivery: Feb 2014
Status: Delivered March 2014
Performance: 124 backers pledged £7,713 of £5,859 goal
Verdict: Some steampunk dwarves that should fit into Empire Of The Dead and No Quarter very nicely. Not a huge Kickstarter and it did not generate the total that it deserved.
scruntswip01The models are fantastic, really nice clean sculpts.

SubF-X Gaming Mats – For miniature gaming

Funding Ended: October 2015
Estimated delivery: December 2015
Performance: 134 backers pledged £5,261 of £1,000 goal
Status: Delivered December 2015
Verdict: These are small 3ft by 3ft mats, but at £19 it had to be worth a punt. The finished article is good, the pattern is a bit repetitive, but when loads of scenery is on top, it should look great.

Estimated delivery: March 2014
Performance: 265 backers pledged £30,841 of £2,000 goal
Status: Delivered September 2014
Verdict: I changed my mind on what I was going to have on this Kickstarter and went for the Zeppelins, which are excellent. The other models are a little on the small side.

Relic Knights by Soda Pop Miniatures and CoolMiniOrNot
Relic_Knights_Logo
Funding Ended: September 10th 2012
Estimated delivery: May 2013
Performance: 3,459 backers pledged $909,537 of $20,000 goal
Status: Delivered in August 2014
Verdict: Delivered over a year late, very poor communication and lots of excuses. It seems that Cool Mini Or Not have fallen out with Soda Pop and so it all went a bit wrong. This may well be the last CMON Kickstarter I back…unless there is a second Rivet Wars Kickstarter…

Sedition Wars by Mike McVey and CoolMiniOrNot
sedition_wars_logo
Funding Ended: June 30th 2012
Estimated delivery: November 2012
Performance: 4,278 backers pledged $951,254 of $20,000 goal
Status: Phase 1 and 2 Delivered / Unpainted
Verdict: The boxed game models and game boards were very good, however the original rules were really very poor, they were confusing and poorly written.
The basic combat mechanic is good, 3D6 with modifiers against a defensive target number. The Strain (the bad guys) can infect the Vanguard (the good guys) which can be most unpleasant.
With the second phase of models, a rewrite of the rules was made available as a pdf which appears to be much better.
As a board game, I’m not sure if this will ever get painted, for me this is more of a game to get out at Christmas.

Aliens vs Predator by Prodos Games
avp_logo
Funding Ended: November 28th 2013
Estimated delivery: May 2014
Performance: 2,094 backers pledged £379,141 of £35,000 goal
Status: Partially delivered in February 2016, that is not a mis-type, the main box really did arrive in 2016. Still waiting for a couple of other models to be delivered.
Verdict: Having been delivered to some backers and made available for retail sales, it was many months later that mine finally arrived 2016. Luckily I got to play the game a few times before with Jokens copy. Disappointing.

Loft Full Of Lead Rating: Very disappointed in the appalling communications from Prodos and the amount of time it took to arrive.

Estimated delivery: September 2014
Performance: 368 backers pledged £12,791 of £12,000 goal
Status: Delivered September 2014, right on time.
Verdict: A single deck card game, no expansions, no extra rules, just one deck. So I have it and need to read the rules and have a go.

Leviathon Crusader by Dream Forge Games
leviathan_crusader_box
Funding Ended: September 16th 2012
Estimated delivery: November 2012
Performance: 782 backers pledged $205,971 of $30,000 goal
Status: Delivered / Unmade
Verdict: Looks like a very good kit with lots of articulated joints and a number of weapon options.
It was originally purchased for use with my Grey Knights army, but since falling out of affection for 40K (again), I am not sure what it will get used for.
