So it is finished, but I am not happy with it. As a first attempt at a Gaslands car it has given me some food for thought and a few things to watch out for. I think I will take apart the the next vehicle completely to make the conversion work a bit easier.
I also need to work out how to weather the car so it actually looks muddy. Some of the models created on the Facebook Gaslands page are truly exceptional.
These final four should finish off all the British Navy Marines I need for a crew.
I need to do some more able seamen at some stage, dressed in Navy White rather than pirate looking chaps, will have to google some appropriate colour schemes.
Finished my Meridian Miniatures Gunbots, decided on green, simple really.
There is another Steam Wars game coming up so I will have to profile these little chaps up for the British army. I suspect they will be having a small confrontation with the Martians…allegedly.
The latest release in the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe is the much anticipated Black Panther, and it does not disappoint. T’Challa made his first appearance in Captain America Civil War and is back for his own adventure.
The action lives up to the usual Marvel standard, plenty of super-powered smashing and bashing and there is a great car chase.
There are amazing sets with a blend of Africa and an ultra modern city. There is one bit, where a scene takes place in a street market in South Korea and shortly afterwards there is a scene in a street market in Wakanda, and the similarities and differences between the two were pretty cool.
I also enjoyed the music and I will be seeking out the soundtrack.
Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue is brilliant as he has been been in several preceding Marvel movies, he plays an utterly insane psychopath armed with a wickedly powerful, er, arm, he steals the first half of the film.
So next is The Avengers Infinity War with everyone playing a part.
Last night was my first attempt at Gaslands, yet another Osprey rulebook in their ever expanding range.
The initial impression is good, once you get over the number of counters and dice required to record a vehicles Gear, Damage and Hazard status, it plays quite quickly.
The start is pretty chaotic with all the vehicles bunched together, in fact in this game, most of the action seemed to take place around the first Gate which is not very far from the starting line.
I used two buggy’s and a heavily armoured and armed truck, the idea was for the buggy’s to race ahead and the truck to cause carnage behind. So obviously the buggy’s never got in front of the truck and the cunning pre-race strategy went straight out the window.
I like the game, this could well be one we come back to on a regular basis, we will have a rematch in a few weeks and should get to try out the Sponsor rules.
These vehicles are from Aberrant Games and are unmodified, my next Gaslands task will be to convert some Hot Wheels cars with some 40K Epic and Flames Of War accessories
Before I allow myself the time to put together any of the new West Wind models received this week, I must clear some of the painting back log.
There are four extra British Navy Marines from Black Scorpion, these should give me enough to make two full squads and plenty to crew the British Navy Man O’War.
There are also five boxy robots from Meridian Miniatures, these should not take long to finish off, I am thinking green…
